The scheme at Longview consists of a strategic housing development to provide 753 residential units to be constructed in a series of 6 distinct neighbourhoods. The development is situated on the edge of Cork city approx. 3km from the city centre along the Ballyhooly Road. The site, which enjoys extensive views over Cork city to the south and the Sheehy Mountains to the west, is shaped by the distributor road and the intersection of the greenway, linking the neighbourhoods together to the Ballyhooly Road entrance. The development is designed to offer a broad range of accommodation in terms of unit size and accommodation. The design consists of a mix of house types including detached, semi-detached, terrace, duplex, and apartments providing an overall density of 35/units/hA. Also included is a local centre building consisting of retail units, creche, doctors' surgery and community use unit. The proposed development includes a new internal distributor road, opening access to neighbouring lands, associated internal roads, car parking and new pedestrian and cycle paths.
